The three sisters built their chocolate business from a 300 sq. ft. corner store to a beautifully appointed, 3000 sq. ft. retail store on Post Road and the title of "Best Candy Store in Rhode Island" according to RI Monthly Magazine. Seven employees provide customer service in the spacious new location, while production continues at the hands of two chocolatiers in the original location.

In 1994 Vinacco began dipping small pretzel twists in chocolate, creatively packaging them and selling them to friends and co-workers. These "Sweet Twists" were the inspiration not only for the name but also for what became the gourmet chocolate shop. The three sisters joined forces in 2003 to create the vision that is now Sweet Twist - to offer beautifully packaged, fine chocolates and treats that everyone can afford. Between 1994 and 2003, the business continued to grow at a steady rate despite its remote location and limited retail space. Since the grand opening in 2004, Sweet Twist has experienced an explosion in growth of over 200%.

Today, the store offers much more than chocolate. Sweet Twist has over 3,000 products on their store shelves ranging from hand made, hand-dipped, hand-packed assorted chocolates to unique and whimsical gifts.

Native Rhode Islanders, the three sisters grew up together with their parents, James and Ann Murphy in Warwick. They attended Toll Gate High School and St. Mary's Academy Bay View. All three graduated from the state's colleges - RIC, RISD, URI and Bryant University. Sheila, who started the business, graduated from RIC with a degree and career in Special Education, acquiring a Graphic Design Certificate from RISD. Ann, the business manager, graduated from Bryant University with a business degree and Mary received her Bachelors of Science degree from URI.

Future plans for Sweet Twist will first focus on e-commerce, reflecting the geographic expansion of their market. With the steady climb in sales, Sweet Twist maintains a strict adherence to providing all customers, -young and old, with unique, high quality products and unparalleled customer service.
